Nikon Tele Lens Prices

Very crude guide at what Nikon tele lenses cost, based solely on the theoretical area of the front element needed for the noted aperture at maximum focal length. Line is a third-order polynomial fit (parameters in box), prices based on early December 2009 B&H website. Red numbers are deviation of actual price from theoretical one.
As it can be seen, zooms with current technologies (VR + AF-S) are above the trend, as one would expect, ie, zooms being more expensive than primes. Non-VR lenses like the 300 mm f/4 AF-S is below the trend.
Red line indicates rumoured 100-500 mm f/5.6 lens. Anybody venture a guess for its price?
